Psalm 75

 Psalm 75
Where does your strength, your power come from? Maybe, like Hannah in the book of Samuel, you do not think you have any power at all. Psalm 75 is for you. Don't take my word for it, open your Bible and read it.
Psalms 75:1 For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song.We give thanks to Thee, O God, we give thanks,For Thy name is near; men declare Thy wondrous works.
75:1 The primary activity of believers is thanksgiving. Why? Thanksgiving acknowledges YHVH's will and control of your life. Please don't skip this important element of prayer.
Psalm 75:2-82 "When I select an appointed time, it is I who judge with equity. 3 "The earth and all who dwell in it melt; it is I who have firmly set its pillars.    Selah4 "I said to the boastful, 'Do not boast,' and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up the horn; 5 Do not lift up your horn on high, do not speak with insolent pride.' "  6 For not from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert comes exaltation; 7 But God is the Judge; He puts down one, and exalts another. 8 For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine foams; it is well mixed, and He pours out of this;Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs.
Powerlessness is thinking you are in control.
75:2-8 Power and judgement.
Power is not found in achievements we may boast about, pride is not where power is found. Nor is it discovered in an indulgent life of wickedness. On a personal note, I am tempted to feel despair when I hear about the wickedness of American political figures and the powerful abusers in Hollywood. Why are they constantly given a pass for their evil crimes, their sin? How can they leave a trail of broken lives, how can they be so wealthy while the righteous are shot down as they come together to worship the Almighty or as the innocent listen to a band?

Psalm 75:7-8 The Cup
A cup is in the hand of YHVH. It is the cup of judgement. I do not understand much about this cup, except that the contents are deadly. The wicked are not getting away with anything at all.
All of us have sinned and sinners must drink from the cup as the penalty of our sin... but God

We who come to Jesus--to Y'shua, have an empty cup. Y'shua drank it for us.
John 18:11b "...the cup which the father has given me, shall I not drink it?"

This is the cup of Psalm 75:8. He had no personal sin to pay for, so He was qualified and willing to pay for yours. His life for yours, your life for his. (Take a look at Matt 20:22-23; 26:39, Mark 14:36, Luke 42:22)
Psalm 75:9-109 But as for me, I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 10 And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.  nas
75:9-10 The horn of the righteous is Y'shua. When you read 1Samual 2:1 you will see that Hannah declared her power was exalted in YHVH (The LORD) because her joy, her rejoicing is Y'shua (Salvation). The same as all believers. You think it doesn't say that in your Bible? The English word Salvation has been translated from the Hebrew word Y'shua! That is Jesus.

Feeling powerless? Call upon Y'shua. Tell me what happens next.
